Village Chinteni is located within 16 km of Cluj-Napoca and belongs to the folk area "Hills of Cluj and Dej". The village Mayor Mrs. Lucia Suciuand and the local council, have set up a band of local traditional dancers in 2006, to maintain and carry on Romanian traditions in the area.
At the recommendation of beloved popular music interpreter and "Fadless Folk"(floclor nepieritor) show producer Maria Dan Golban, the two choreographers have been hired to set up the band, and not long after the results have shown. Members of the bands are children aged 9-16, from Chinteni and villages around it.
The bands aim is to keep and capitalize romanian folk from Chintaului Valley, in its genuine form, and manage in three years time to produce quality performances. Besides taking part in shows supported on several occasions in the village, also, present at The Celebrations Fest of Transilvania -Cluj Napoca, editions 2007 and 2008, Snow Celebrations-Baisoara, Cluj county-2007 and 2008 and Habits Fest of winter-december 2008-Cluj-Napoca. Games shown by these children, accuracy and interpretation performed and the beauty of the costumes they wear, make the band from Chinteni one of which surely people will speak about for a long time.
